DR. KARA LARUE
DVM | Texas A&M University
Dr. Kara LaRue graduated with honors from Texas A&M University in 2011. She spent 9 years in general practice honing her medical and surgical skills before pursuing an intensive, veterinary sonography program with VDIC in 2019.

Her love for the human-animal bond has driven her back to general practice where she will use her past experiences to provide phenomenal care by integrating real-time imaging with the patient’s medical and surgical needs.

Dr. LaRue serves on the Board of Directors for the International Veterinary Point-of-Care Ultrasound Society and was a guest speaker at their inaugural symposium. She has also taught Global FAST (AFAST, TFAST, and VETBLUE Point-of-Care) techniques as a FASTvet ultrasound proctor and collaborator.
MCKENZIE DEWITT
Lead Veterinary Technician
McKenzie has been interested in veterinary medicine since high school when she completed 100 hours of volunteer time that led to her first position in the industry! Growing up right here in Damascus, Oregon, she learned to care for horses, dogs, cats, and a variety of pocket pets from a young age. This lifelong passion for animal care makes her a staunch patient advocate in her role as Pine Point Animal Hospital’s lead veterinary technician.

While attending The Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) premedical program, McKenzie completed four clinical rotations—Dove Lewis Oncology, SE Portland Animal Hospital, Columbia Equine, and The Village Vet. These hands-on experiences helped deepen her knowledge of and experience with exceptional patient care. From surgical prep and recovery to vaccines and nail trims, she’s motivated by the knowledge that this work helps animals live long and healthy lives.

TASHA JANSEN
Veterinary Technician
Tasha’s lifelong love for animals drives her to provide the best care possible for all of our patients! As a veterinary technician, she’s passionate about minimizing stress and creating positive experiences for each pet that comes through our doors (especially if they’re here for something really scary, like a nail trim!).

As a Radiology Safety Certified technician, Tasha assists with advanced diagnostics, including radiographic and ultrasound imaging. A self-motivated and resourceful team member, she is inspired to continue learning and aspires to be a Certified Veterinary Technician in the future.

Though she loves all animals, Tasha has a special place in her heart for bully breeds and mixes! She treats every patient with the love and respect that she shows to her own pup.
